Hiz Kidz Electives

Hiz Kidz Electives meet during the second part of  rehearsal (7:05 - 7:45pm)

Radical Kidz:

Directed by Hiz Kidz Leadership Team

   Radical Kidz is a group of enthusiastic 1st - 3rd graders

focusing on snack time, small group discussion, music theory,

character development, and choral learning.

 

The following electives are for singers in 4th - 6th grade:

 

CHIMEs:

Directed by Pastor Laurie Neary

   Chimes are a hand-held instrument, and the ability to produce
music is almost immediate. Within minutes we can successfully
play melodies and experience the joys of making real music
regardless of each kidz' musical training. No previous music
reading experience necessary! Each child will quickly gain the
countless benefits of playing in an instrumental ensemble. We
work hard, but have a lot of fun as well. The more players we
have, the easier it is to make beautiful music to praise the Lord!

 

Drama:

   Drama is an elective that will give kids an opportunity for creative
expression as we explore sharing our faith, re-telling stories,
stage acting, monologues and improvisation. We will play theater
games, do articulation exercises, create our own scripts and
discover new ways to bring old stories to life. We will look to the
most dynamic storyteller that ever walked this earth and explore
creative ways to be more like Him as we share His story. I look
forward to meeting all you drama stars and exploring ways to
share your creative talents.

   A brand new elective in Hiz Kidz! We are so excited to begin this
season of SERVING, BLESSING and ENCOURAGING those
around us. Some of the things we will be doing inclues cardmaking,
exploring art projects, baking cookies, assisting in serving
others in Hiz Kidz, in our community and so much MORE!!!! If you
like to bless people and have a heart for those in need – join the
hospitality team!!!

 

Human Video:

Directed by Shelley McKenzie

   Human video is an elective that will get kids moving! Students will
learn to tell stories with their facial expression and bodies. As
the music portrays a story, students work as a team to tell that
story through movement. Basically, human video is drama put to
music. Come join us!

 

Media:

   In Hiz Kidz Media, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders learn how to do
many of the backstage and behind the scenes projects that make
a performance great. One of the skills we learn is how to make
web pages using HTML and text editors. This year, we are going
to focus on updating the Hiz Kidz home page, as well as making
our own personal web pages for our friends and family to view.
We also learn how a production sized sound system works. We set
up and take down the sound system from Hiz Kidz rehearsal, as
well as run sound systems for Worship Team and other electives.
The third thing that we learn in Media is how to create
PowerPoint presentations to display announcements and worship
lyrics. With the success of the filming of the Hiz Kidz Drama
movie last year, we will be looking for ways to include Hiz Kidz
Media in production type work as well, where we will interface
with other small groups. The Media Hiz Kidz are encouraged to
work as teams, and rely on each other to learn new tricks, as well
as, push buttons and learn firsthand what the result is. If you
have a Hiz Kid that enjoys drawing, creating, and designing, and
likes to have a whole lot of fun, Media may just be the elective
for them.

 

Worship Team:

Directed by Jessica Weaver

   If you love worshipping God and want to learn more about what
that means, Hiz Kidz Worship Team is for you! This year we will
be working through several songs musically, but we are also going
to take a look at the heart of worship. We want to help Kidz
better understand the mechanics of music, but our number one
goal is to assist them in developing a life that truly worships God.
David danced and praised the Lord, and we plan on having just as
much fun! Through motions, games, discussions, guest speakers,
music theory, and instruments, we will dive into the world of
worship leading. Not only will the Kidz learn about worship, but
they will get to put all they’ve learned into practice. This year we
look forward to having a full band for worship during children’s
church, and Hiz Kidz Worship Team will have the chance to
participate in it! God loves to hear people of all ages praise Him,
and that’s what we’re going to do. So come join us as we learn to
worship through music and through our lives!
