Foster care

James 1:27 Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us.
Cedar Park Foster Care Ministries desires to see a Christian community for foster children. Our goal is to have families within Cedar Park, and the Christian community at large, become foster licensed for the purpose of foster-to-adopt, long term foster care, respite care, emergency placement, and drivers/supervisors for biological visits. We have many ministries already established within Cedar Park that benefit the foster family, foster child, and biological family. [Our Story]

Cedar Park Counseling Network – A group of counselors who can offer Christian counseling to foster families and their foster children.

Cedar Park Tutoring Program - This program is a work in progress and we hope to have it set up and running by the fall of 2009. This tutoring program is made up of junior and senior high students from Cedar Park Christian Schools who are willing to spend time mentoring and tutoring foster children. The benefit for the foster child is they will have a Christian tutor and mentor. The benefit for the high school student is community service hours are met and it’s a great way for the students to give of themselves to another.

Biological Family Visits – To make available the children’s wing and youth rooms of Cedar Park church in order for biological visits to take place. Biological moms and dads can come in the doors of the church and have a fun appropriate place for visits with their children.

Cedar Park Camps – A great place for a foster child to go for a day or a week to hone skills in sports, arts and crafts, music or just have a fun week with other children in a Christian environment.

Cedar Park Foster Prayer Group – A group of individuals within Cedar Park committed to praying for foster families, foster children, and biological families

Royal Family Kids Camp – Scott and Carolyn Winters (Carolyn.winter@cedarpark.org) run this week long camp that is specifically designed around foster children. RFKC is a week-long overnight camp for abused and neglected foster children ages 7 to 11. The first camp will be held from July 27th to July 31st, 2009 at Cedar Springs Camp in Lake Stevens, WA.

These are a few of the ministries that support Cedar Park Foster Care Ministries.
