Kumite Sandan

 

Attacker:

  1. Starting in a back stance, step up and execute a front kick with the back leg where the defender is, and then a middle punch with what will be your front hand where the defender steps to
  2. Step up and front kick with the back leg where the defender is, and middle punch with what will be the front hand where the defender steps to
  3. Step up and front kick with the back leg where the defender is, and middle punch with what will be the front hand where the defender steps to
  4. Without stepping, low punch with the opposite hand and chamber the other hand at the same time.

 

Defender:

  1. From ready position, step 45 degrees back and outside with the opposite foot that the attacker stepped up with (same side), swim block the kick redirecting behind you and block the punch by executing an outside block with your front hand against the punch
  2. Step back 45 degrees in the other direction, swim block the kick redirecting behind you and block the punch by executing an outside block with your front hand against the punch
  3. Step back 45 degrees in the other direction, swim block the kick redirecting behind you and block the punch by executing an outside block with your front hand against the punch
  4. Without stepping, block the punch by executing a low block with the same hand that just completed an outside block, and complete a reverse punch while chambering the blocking hand at the same time.

 

 

Kumite Yodan

 

Attacker:

  1. From a right back stance, step up with back foot and execute a front kick
  2. Punch high with the right hand
  3. Punch mid-level with the left hand
  4. Block the punch with a right-handed inside block
  5. Step up and execute a front kick with the back leg
  6. Step up and execute a side kick with the back leg
  7. Punch high with the right hand
  8. Punch mid-level with the left hand

 

 

Defender:

  1. From a ready position, step back with the right foot and execute a swim block
  2. Block the high punch by executing a high out side block (also called a rising block) and at the same time, execute an up block (like in Pinan Shodan). 
  3. Drop the up block down on the mid-level punch
  4. Punch mid-level with left hand
  5. Step back and swim block the front kick
  6. Shift left and back 45 degrees (in the same step) and swim block the side kick
  7. Block the high punch with a rising block done by your right arm
  8. Block the mid-level punch with a down block done by the same arm
  9. Shifting your stance into a front stance, execute a reverse punch to the mid-section

 

 

Kumite Godan

 

Attacker:

  1. From a right back stance, step up with back foot and execute a front kick
  2. Punch high with the right hand
  3. Punch mid-level with the left hand
  4. Punch mid-level with the right hand
  5. Step back and swim block the front kick

 

Defender:

  1. From a ready position, step back with the right foot and execute a swim block
  2. Block the punch with a left-handed rising block
  3. Block the punch with a left-handed down block
  4. Block the punch with a twisted right-handed outside block (like in Pinan Shodan)
  5. Step up and execute a front kick with the back leg
