Baptism

What is Christian Baptism?

Baptism is immersion in water as an outward and public statement of your inward commitment to follow Christ.

If you have made this decision and have not been baptized, this is your next step.

Why be baptized?

To follow Jesus' example
“At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.” Mark 1:9

Baptism naturally follows belief in Jesus
“Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.” Acts 2:41

Because Jesus said we should
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” Matthew 28:19

To demonstrate Jesus' Lordship over our lives
“Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?” Luke 6:46

Steps to help your child understand:
For Children 6 - 12 years of age.

We believe parents are best equipped to know when their child is ready to pursue water baptism. To assist parents in that process children classes on baptism are available on a regular basis.

These classes are designed specifically for kids who are interested in taking the next step of baptism, or simply are curious about and want to learn more. These classes usually run on Sunday morning during the 10:45 service, or occasionally a Wednesday night during the mid-week programs at the church and runs typically between 60 and 75 minutes.

Children will read about baptism in God's Word, and then at the end, walk down to the baptismal area to take a look. The kids will each come home with a workbook so the parents can see what material we have gone through. Parents are welcome to join their kids during this exciting journey!

Schedule
Baptism will be celebrated at Cedar Park on the following Sundays :* Baptisms in June and January are in the AM service
What to bring on the day of the Baptism
  1. A towel.
  2. Something to wear that you don’t mind getting wet, but please be modest (dark shirt and shorts work well).
